"Alexander"
is
the beginning of Regal X Boxers.
He
came to live with me when he was only 4
weeks old. Alexander was my
first dog, purchased as a guardian and
companion, and he taught me everything
about Boxers.
Alexander
had
no formal training until he was two
years old. Taking him on daily
walks, I was frequently stopped by
people who said, "What a beautiful
Boxer, you should show him!"
Becoming part of the formation of a
new dog club, I soon met the "dog show
crowd". Victor Hernandez Montano
first handled Alexander, earning half
of his Mexican championship
points. But it wasn't long
before I wanted to learn to take my
own dog in the ring. It was then
that I met Victor's brother, Carlos
Roberto Hernandez Montano.
Carlos was and is, one of
the few handlers and trainers I've
met, who is willing to teach and share
his knowledge. With Carlos
coaching, I finished Alexander's
championship and handled him briefly
as a Special. Carlos handled
Alexander to his Temperament Title
(TT). Alexander was 5 years old
when we started training for
obedience. He earned one
"leg" in his first obedience circuit,
and then we had to suspend our efforts
with the arrival of Francesca's first
litter.
When
Alexander was 7, we started
again. His first time back in
the ring at 8 years of age, Alexander
scored a 196 out of a possible
200. Not only did he win 1st
Place in Novice A, but he was also
High in Trial (who says you can't
teach an old Boxer new tricks?).
The next day he earned his third
"leg", completing his Companion Dog
title, in Mexico called Perro
Compañero (PC).
