"Alexander"
is the beginning of Regal
X Boxers.
He came to live with me when he was only 4 weeks old.
Alexander was my first dog, purchased as a guardian and companion, and
he taught me everything about boxers.
Alexander
had no formal training until he was two years old. Taking him on
daily walks, I was frequently stopped by people who said, "What a beautiful
boxer, you should show him!" Becoming part of the formationof a new
dog club, I soon met the "dog show crowd". Victor Hernandez Montano
first handled Alexander, earning half of his Mexican championship points.
But it wasn't long before I wanted to learn to take my own dog in the ring.
It was then that I met Victor's brother, Carlos Roberto Hernandez Montano.
Carlos
was and is, one of the few handlers and trainers I've met, who is willing
to teach and share his knowledge. With Carlos coaching, I finished
Alexander's championship and handled him briefly as a Special. Carlos
handled Alexander to his Temperament Title. Alexander was 5 years
old when we started training for obedience. He earned one "leg"
in his first obedience circuit, and then we had to suspend our efforts
with the arrival of Francesca's first litter.
When
Alexander was 7, we started again. His first time back in the ring
at 8 years of age, Alexander scored a 196 out of a possible 200.
Not only did he win 1st Place in Novice A, but he was also High in Trial
(who says you can't teach an old boxer new tricks?). The next day
he earned his third "leg", completing his Companion Dog title, in Mexico
called Perro Compañero (P.C.).
